Our Meetups/Gatherings are a group meetup and we want them to be safe at all times for everyone on them. For us to keep the meetups safe and fun can we please consider the following if you are to come to any of the future meetup/Gatherings. 1) Please remember some dogs can be possessive and aggressive when sharing toys or balls. Please keep this to a minimum while walking as a group as fights can occur suddenly over dogs not being able to share. Your dog may be fine but other dogs that you don’t know may not be. 2) Please ask owner’s permission when giving out treats as some dogs may have an allergy issue depending on what ingredients are in the treats. Also some dogs don’t like to share and could cause fighting between the pack. 3) Uncontrollable dogs must be kept on a lead. 4) Please respect other dog owners in the park if they are on a lead. It’s your responsibility not the host.
Dogs must be kept under close control at all times and on lead where necessary or requested by the walk leader/host.
Thank you for considering others on the walk and group members.

Strict Liability
The Animals Act 1971 makes a “keeper” of a dog strictly liable for damage caused by the dog in certain circumstances. A person is a “keeper” of a dog if they own it or have it in their possession. In the case of a child less than 16 owning or having a dog in their possession the head of that child’s household may be deemed to be the keeper. That person remains the keeper until someone else fitting the qualifications succeeds them as a keeper. The Animals Act is very complicated and much is down to definition and case law. The best course of action is to ensure you have full control over your dog at all times and to question the competence of anyone you may entrust to look after your dog even for a short period of time. We also strongly recommend you ensure you take out third party liability cover as a precaution. A few moments thought could save a lot of heartache and expense!
